Wigan Warriors captain Sean O'Loughlin, has put pen to paper on a new four-year contract with the club.
O'Loughlin's current deal was scheduled to end later this year but the new deal means the 25-year old will remain with Wigan until at least the end of 2012.
Wigan Chairman, Ian Lenagan, said: "We are pleased to have agreed a new Contract with Sean for Seasons 2009 - 2012. He is an integral part of the club's future plans, typifies our increased focus on the development and retention of local players and leads by example as the club's Captain.
"Sean is a product of the club's scholarship and Academy system and is one of a number of players we are in the process of securing on long-term deals."
O'Loughlin said: "I am thrilled to have agreed a new deal with the Club and that my future has been secured. It is an honour to play for Wigan and captain the side and I would never want to play for any other club.
"I feel the next few years are going to be very exciting under the new Wigan ownership and I am looking forward to playing my part."
Coach Brian Noble added: "Sean is a quality player with a fantastic attitude and I am delighted the Club has moved quickly to secure his services for the long-term."
