RYAN Brierley is delighted to be back at Leigh and hopes his performances in the coming month win over any sceptical supporters.

Brierley-on a month’s loan from Betfred Championship rivals, Toronto-has received a hostile reception on visits back to the LSV after quitting the club for Huddersfield in 2016.

And he admits it could be a nerve-wracking comeback on Sunday when John Duffy’s side entertain Sheffield Eagles.

But Brierley, now 27, is determined nothing shall sour his chance to enjoy regular first team action again.

“If anyone is doubting my commitment to Leigh Centurions they are heavily mistaken,” said Brierley.

“I will do my best to take no notice of the negatives and if anything happens hopefully the majority will be supportive.

“Whether some people are happy or not, I am happy to be back enjoying my rugby again.

“There has been lovely feedback from some fans and it’s great to be welcomed.

“There is that sense of coming back home and it is where I had most of my success. It has been a frustrating and confusing time personally.

“I will do my best to take no notice of the negatives and if anything happens hopefully, he majority will be supportive.

“I love playing at Leigh Sports Village and hopefully this time the fans will be shouting for me rather than against me.”

Brierley took his first steps to redemption with a 16 points haul in Leigh’s 36-16 victory at Batley last Sunday.

“I have no idea where I will be in a month’s time,” admits Brierley who stayed behind when Brian McDermott’s Wolfpack travelled to Canada to belatedly being their home campaign.

“I am just going to focus on playing well for Leigh and helping us pick up two points.”

And Brierley says there’s plenty more to come before his initial loan spell runs out.

“In my head I am no where I need to be- that’s not just fitness it is skill wise as well.

“I have only played in spells off the bench for Toronto which is not ideal when you are used to playing week in week out.

“I didn’t feel as sharp as I have in previous seasons but that comes with playing games.

“I am just thankful to Leigh for giving me the opportunity.

“ I am 100 percent focused on my effort purely being for Leigh and I will see what happens after then.”
