KYLE Lovett would just love it if Leigh can start to climb the Betfred Championship table helped by back-to-back Easter wins.

The former Wests Tigers star scored his first tries for the club in Sunday’s 36-0 win over Dewsbury.

And Lovett says victory over the Rams and the Challenge Cup success at icy Batley has lifted the gloom from the first six weeks of the new campaign.

Leigh entertain bottom of the table Swinton on Good Friday (3pm) and then return to the Leigh Sports Village on Easter Monday to face current table toppers, London Broncos (3pm).

“I am very excited,” says the 25-year-old back row forward on Leigh’s prospects for the rest of the year. “We still have a chance, definitely.

“It’s a long season and we are still backing ourselves because we are finding confidence in our footie

“Hopefully, we can keep on doing it. Overall it was a good team performance,” added Lovett of Centurions’ six try demolition of Dewsbury.

“It was good to see us all putting in an 80 minutes performance.

“We scrambled well in defence and it was the cherry on the top to get two tries.

“We built on the win at Batley which were the toughest conditions I have ever played in. And Dewsbury was another step in the right direction.

“Easter will be another new experience because I have never played two games in four days before. It will be a good test but we will be looking to get back-to-back wins.”

Lovett has made four appearances now and says: “I am stoked to get back in the team and to be playing again.

“I am finding my groove; the weather is getting warmer and I am finding my feet around the place. So, it’s all good.”

Leigh have now gone two games without conceding try and face a Swinton side without a win in their six Championship fixtures with a minus points difference of 172.

Caretaker coach Kieron Purtill expects Ben Reynolds to be available for the opening Easter fixture after his half back limped off in the final minute of the Dewsbury game.

“We have ideas on what we are going to do with the squads for Easter,” said Purtill. “But we will approach Friday first, get that out of the way and then prepare for Monday.

Meanwhile Leigh’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup fifth round tie against London Broncos will take place at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday, April 22 with a 3pm kick off.

Tickets for this fixture are now on sale.
