Blackpool Panthers again saw crack French outfit Toulouse end their challenge cup bid at the first hurdle.
But a much tighter margin of victory for last year's cup semi-finallists is a measure of progress for the Panthers in the last 12 months.
Toulouse scored 52-points at Bloomfield Road last season but won just 18-10 in the snow on Sunday, with the margin at just two points until full back Trent Clayton added a late try for Toulouse.
Try scorers for Blackpool were Steve Ormesher in the first half and Liam Bretherton in the second.
The Panthers head to Leigh in the Northern Rail Cup on Sunday.
