THE Ribblesdale League played its third round of Ramsbottom Cup fixtures on Saturday.

In Group One, Settle welcomed Salesbury and, batting first, were bowled out for 145 despite decent knocks by Sadrian Ward (38), Shakeel Richards (42) and Adam Strickland (32no).

Hashen Ramanayake took 3-36 and Josh Bristol 4-36.

Salesbury got off to a steady start and looked on course at 80-3 - with Sachin Rawson (29) and Peter Richardson (32) in the runs - but ultimately, they fell five runs short of victory closing on 140-7.

Cherry Tree got off to a bad start against Brinscall, slipping to 36-4 before Stephan Klopper steadied the innings, scoring 87 - including four sixes - as the home side were bowled out for 176.

But an unbeaten 67 from Sehan Weerasinghe and Sam MacLachlan (31no) saw Brinscall home with six wickets and three overs to spare.

In Group Two, Earby played Feniscowles with both teams needing a win to boost their qualification for the quarter finals.

Feniscowles were reduced to 58-8 despite 31 from Henco Murphy. Charlie Errey made 25 not out to get Feniscowles to 95 all out. Jason Lockley took 5-29 and Safyan Ahmed 3-17.

In reply, Earby were struggling at 27-5 and 61-7, Richard Craddock making 24. But Benjamin Cocker (17) and Michael Webb (11no) got Earby close to the winning line before Lockley hit a six to seal victory.

Chalana De Silva scored 69 - including nine fours and four sixes - as Barnoldswick were bowled out for 197 by Read.

Openers Shaukat Sheraz (43), N Ahmed (23) and Asad Latif (20) all contributed while Matthew Walker (4-21) and Bailey Richards (3-62) were the pick of the Read bowlers.

Read lost both openers early but Matthew Walker (38) and then Joshua Lavin (43) seemed to put Read on the road to a comfortable win. But Read lost three quick wickets to be reduced to 170-8. However, skipper Andrew Rushton (10no) joined Bailey Richard (15no) calmly saw Read over the line with two wickets in hand.

Oswaldtwistle continued their run spree in the cup when they took on holders Whalley in Group Three.

Jack Harrison (59) and Shubham Khajuria (110) - including 12 fours and three sixes - put on 154 for the first wicket and was the foundation of an impressive 264-4. Joel Blain took 3-34.

Whalley got off to a good start with an opening stand of 72 between Mark Fallon (28) and Stuart Crabtree (50), but then fell away to be all out for 151. Liam Hickson took 4-55 and Matthew Cook 3-6.

Ribblesdale Wanderers hosted Division One side Stacksteads. Batting first, Wanderers’ top three all made runs, Mack Spencer (64), Sam Jackson (47) and Primosh Perera (68no) in an impressive total of 252-7.

Stacksteads struggled in their reply with only Ansar Mahmood (47) making double figures as they were dismissed for 81. Jordan Britcliffe took 5-33.
