WIGAN Athletic striker Marlon King has joined Barclays Premier League newcomers Hull City on a season-long loan.

The Tigers have been in discussions with the 28-year-old for several weeks as they bid to strengthen their squad ahead of this weekend's season opener.

Wigan have confirmed King will not be able to face the Latics in either game this season, in accordance with Premier League rules regarding loan deals.

Latics manager Steve Bruce said: "We wish Marlon all the best.

"He is a good pro and he made a contribution last season.

"He has worked hard in pre-season and has made an impact, but he has chosen to move on for the time being."
