RAMSBOTTOM United have taken a major step towards increasing their revenue stream with the appointment of Simon Kenyon as their new commercial manager.

Simon, who hails from Hesketh Bank, arrives with significant experience of sport business management and has held roles at a number of clubs over the last 13 years. He is also the managing director of a sports management business.

He arrives at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium with a remit to encourage as many local businesses as possible to get involved with the club, be it through sponsorship, advertising or enjoying the matchday experience.

It has been a summer of change at Rammy, with new club sponsors Rosebridge signing up, and with the league naming its new sponsor, BetVictor.

This season the club’s target is promotion to the BetVictor Premier Division, and they feel improving the club’s financial position and increasing the Rams’ profile and support will go a long way to helping to achieve that aim under manager Chris Willcock.

Club chairman Harry Williams said: “It’s another step forward for the club and we welcome Simon and look forward to him being successful in attracting extra sponsorship and drumming up more interest in the town for their local club.

“Football at this level relies on the goodwill of many volunteers, but fundraising is massively important, especially for a club with ambitions to move further up the football pyramid.

“To that end, I wish Simon well and hope that local businesses welcome the opportunity to become involved with him and Ramsbottom United.”

Kenyon added: “I would to thank Ramsbottom United for offering me this opportunity to work with them.

“It’s an exciting challenge for me and one I am looking forward to.”
