Chorley fans will have the chance to meet new manager Garry Flitcroft and assistant Mike Quigley in a special question and answer session at the Victory Park social club on Friday, May 28.

The meeting starts at 7.30 for 8pm and a good turnout is expected, as the fans will be eager to find out the new boss’s plans to take the Magpies back up the non-league ladder, especially in the cutting edge department.

With the squad due to report for pre-season training in the first week of July, manager Flitcroft has already announced the arrival of six players from his previous club, Leigh Genesis.

Striker Jordan Stepien, wide men Jack Dorney and Tom Ince and defensive trio Lee Woodyatt, Mark Ross and Dale Whitham have all agreed terms with the Magpies.

Flitcroft said: “They’re three very exciting young players who will give us a real goal threat.

“Jordan scored 21 goals last season and he missed the last eight games because of injury.

"I like to play with wingers and Jack and Tom have great ability, as well as a fantastic work ethic.

“The three defenders did a great job for me and they are going to be great additions to the squad.

“Lee is a right back who loves to get forward and he’s had experience at a higher level, having previously played for Chester City and Barrow.

“Mark is a very promising central defender who made great strides last season and if he continues to progress he’s got a great future.

“Dale is an England Under-18s international who can play at the back or in the centre of the park.

"He’s only a young lad but he’s got a fantastic engine and likes to get forward and score goals. If he develops at the rate I think he will, I won’t be surprised if a few League clubs start looking at him next season.”

Stepien was Leigh’s top scorer last season. Ince was Genesis Supporters’ Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year.

Double award-winner Wayne Maden, the Chorley skipper and defensive rock, has agreed to stay and striker Alex Porter will be here next season.

Manager Flitcroft was this week hoping to sign a goalkeeper to replace Zac Hibbert, who is understood to have joined Evo-Stik Premier outfit FC United of Manchester.

Lack of scoring power cost Steve Waywell’s side a lot of points last season following the departure of ace marksman Terry Fearns in November, and after reaching eighth position in the table, the club’s highest for seven years, the team plummeted to 16th, which was lower than in the previous campaign.
