CHORLEY boss Tony Hesketh has called for a “real reaction” from his goal-shy side, admitting their slow start to the UniBond Division One North season can not continue.

After getting thumped 5-0 by Trafford in midweek, Hesketh admits confidence is in short supply ahead of tomorrow’s visit of fellow strugglers Harrogate Railway.

He said: “I have to be honest – I am looking for a real reaction tomorrow. It is too early to start cracking the whip, but we can’t afford too many results like we have had.

“I have faith in these players and it is too early to start looking at league tables and talking about positions.”

Defender Chris Smalley is expected to return to the squad, having recovered from an infected leg, while winger Roger Sharrock should be fit after a trapped nerve.
