CHORLEY'S goalkeeping crisis is set to reach a new level tomorrow when high-flying Cammell Laird visit Victory Park.

The injury-cursed Magpies have already fielded 10 different keepers this season, and that figure is now set to reach 11 with manager Gerry Luczka hoping to have yet another custodian on board this weekend.

"The goalkeeping situation sums up our season," said Luczka.

"It's unfortunate but there's nothing we can do about it."

The problems started when regular stopper Phil Priestley picked up a serious knee injury during the opening weeks of the season.

Since then, nine different keepers have tried to fill the void, the latest being Mark Thornley, but he now faces a spell on the sidelines after pulling his hamstring against Goole last week.

Despite all that, Luczka celebrated his first win as Chorley's manager earlier this week when his side beat Skelmersdale United 3-1 - a result which lifted them off the foot of the UniBond First Division table.

"I was pleased for the players. They've gone through a horrible time this season and it's not been easy for them so it was good to see some smiling faces in the dressing room on Tuesday night."
