CHALANA De Silva starred as Barnoldswick were big winners in one of the few Ribblesdale League games to beat the weather on Saturday.

The Sri Lankan professional took 7-18 as Baxenden were bowled out for just 63 in 19 overs.

Johnathan Beech also helped do the damage with figures of 2-32.

Barnoldswick wasted no time in easing to victory with eight wickets and 30 overs to spare.

Whalley picked up an unlikely, and rain affected, 17-run victory over Salesbury.

With Declan Bailey (31) and Charlie Jackson (25) impressing with the bat the hosts promised a bigger total when 59-2.

But Whalley were ultimately bowled out for 105 however with Josh Bristol taking 6-24 and Andrew Mercer 2-14.

The rain came and after a long delay Salesbury decided to chase the reduced 20 over target of 62 in six overs.

They ended on 45-3, Fergus Bailey taking 3-19 to give Whalley victory.

In the only other game to reach a definitive conclusion, Ribblesdale Wanderers were eight-wicket winners over Feniscowles.

Feniscowles went into the match on the back of two excellent wins but got off to the worst possible start, losing the toss and two wickets without a run on the board, both to Michael English, who went on to take 3-48.

Zuhaib Zaman made 23 to get the score moving and Atiq Shar made 32, but 5-38 from Ian Britcliffe meant a final total of 119 all out as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Some rain at tea caused a slight delay in the restart but the weather cleared to enable Ribblesdale to start their reply.

They lost two wickets to Zaman, but Feniscowles were not helped by a wet ball as steady drizzle set in.

Andrew Needham was joined by John Rain with the score on 42 and added an unbeaten stand of 80, Needham making 67 and Rain, in a supporting role, 19 to get over the line with 20 overs to spare.

Elsewhere Cherry Tree posted 238 against Earby with Jake Willacy (30), Timycen Maruma (45), John Baldwin (38) and Kelan Florentine (44) all making contributions.

Jake Hargreaves took 4-54 but the rain came with the game abandoned.

Euxton batted well to reach 254-8 off 43 overs against Padiham, Mark Window making 43, Madushan Ravichandrakumar 47 and Danny Curtis an unbeaten 43, but again the weather brought an early end to proceedings.

Oswaldtwistle started well against Read with an opening partnership of 82 between

Oliver Clare (54) and Jack Harrison

(36).

However, they then lost their way and were bowled out for 167.

For Read Warren Eastham took 4-58 and professional Luke Jongwe 4-27 but they didn’t have chance to bat as the weather

intervened.

Settle reached 189-8 off 44 overs against Brinscall before no further play was possible.

John Davidson and Eddy Read both scored 52 and bowlers Sam MacLachlan and Sehan Weerasinghe had the same figures of 3-53.
