MILL Hill have reached their third LFA Sunday Trophy semi final after a superb 3-2 win at Preston Sunday League side Greenlands.

The Blackburn Sunday League side started the brighter of the two teams and were deservedly in front on 10 minutes through a Luke Hargreaves goal. Mill Hill, previous winners of the LFA Sunday Trophy, continued to play the better football and increased their lead on 35 minutes with a goal by Dean Clarke.

This stirred the home side in to action and they pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time.

Mill Hill started the second half as they had done the first and put the home side’s defence under pressure and were twice denied a third goal by the width of a post.

But a third goal did arrived when a Greenlands defender turned the ball into his own net to restore Mill Hill’s two-goal cushion.

The game opened up as the home side looked to get back in the game and both sides created chances and Greenlands were right back in when they scored from the spot.

But Mill Hill continued to push forward – and only two great saves from the Greenlands keeper stopped them from restoring their two goal advantage.

And Mill Hill used all their big game experience to closed the game out to claim their semi final spot.
