LAURA Massaro lost in the semi finals of the World Series Squash Finals to world number one Nicol David.
Massaro, from Chorley, got off to a fine start at the Queen’s Club, London, winning the first game 11-8.
But the world champion hit back in style to take the next two games 11-4, 11-3 to reach the final.
In the final, David beat Madeline Perry 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 to take the title.
Massaro (below) the British champion and world player of the year, booked her place in the last four after finishing as runner-up to Jenny Duncalf in their group.
The former Albany High School pupil lost her opening to Duncalf then had to sit out her second match after Rachael Grinham withdrew through injury.
But in her final pool game, she beat Low Wee Wern 11-3, 11-4 in just 18 minutes.
