COLNE have signed Pakistani all rounder Mansoor Amjad as professional after signing Kelly Smuts withdrew with a pelvic injury.

Smuts has a stress fracture and informed Colne that he would not be able to bowl – and the Horsfielders have replaced him with the former Leicestershire man, who was not intending to take up a pro deal this summer.

The Worsley Cup holders have also strengthened their amateur ranks with the capture of Burnley’s Nathan Whitehead, who is the son of former Burnley man Ian.

And they hope to have to signatures of youngsters Tayyib Jamil and Saleem Qureshi okayed at tonight’s Lancashire League meeting.

Jamil, the younger brother of Billy, will move from Burnley, while Qureshi has joined from Steeton CC.
