A PADIHAM fan is all set to walk, swim and cycle all the way to the seaside to raise much-needed funds for the Storks.

Loyal supporter Adrian Clark will travel from the Pendle Inn at Barley all the way to Blackpool Tower on May 20 in order to boost the Padiham coffers ahead of pitch maintenance work.

The Vodkat League Premier Division outfit spend around £3,500 on pitch works each summer – and launched an appeal for funds for this year.

And Adrian answered the call – and will take on the big trip for the club.

His epic journey will begin with a walk from Barley to the summit of Pendle Hill and then onto Padiham.

At Padiham Swimming Pool, he will swim a mile and then cycle to Blackpool via the Ribble Valley, a total distance of around 50 miles.

“Adrian has agreed to take on the fund raising challenge, and anyone who can sponsor him for undertaking this task will be helping to pay for the work that needs to be done,” said Padiham secretary Alan Smith “In the close season we need to carry out extensive work on the pitch, which includes weed killing, verti-draining, the purchase and spreading of a sand soil top dressing, purchase and spreading of seed and fertiliser, as well as petrol to put in the tractor so that the grass can be cut in the summer.

“This work will cost in the region of around £3,500 and is usually paid for by the money charged to local leagues to play their cup finals at the Arbories.”

There is also a competition to guess in hours, minutes and seconds how long Adrian’s trip will take from start to finish with details in the clubhouse. The person guessing nearest to the actual time will win £50.

Sponsorship pledges and competition entries should be made through Alan Smith on 07775 717698. Closing date for competition entries is May 19.
