India have beaten Pakistan by 29 runs and will play Sri Lanka in the ICC World Cup final on April 2.

India’s favourite cricketing son Sachin Tendulkar will play a World Cup final in his home town of Mumbai after helping his country to victory.

Tendulkar was named man-of-the-match for his top score of 85 in India’s 260-9, a total they duly defended in a tense semi-final.

The master batsman can look forward to taking on Sri Lanka as India set their sights on following up their maiden World Cup win 28 years ago.

Large parts of East Lancashire came to a standstill as one of sport’s most bitter rivalries met in the semi-final.

Today’s game, which began at 10am, was expected to be watched by a TV audience of over 100million people.

In World Cup matches India now has a 5-0 record over Pakistan.

Our cricket reporter Matt Donlan and sports editor Paul Plunkett posted updates live throughout the game, alongside other cricket news sources.
