VENKY’S have insisted that they will remain committed to Blackburn Rovers even if the club lose their fight against relegation this season.

Rovers are battling to retain their place in the Premier League, going into Saturday’s game at Arsenal just one point outside the bottom three.

Co-owner Venkatesh Rao has admitted he is ‘worried’ about Rovers’ current league position but confirmed that Venky’s will continue to back the club should they drop out of the top flight.

Rovers currently have a high wages to turnover ratio and may become more dependent on financial backing from their owners without Premier League cash.

“We are absolutely committed to the club and that won’t be changing any day,” said Rao when asked about the prospect of relegation.

“Of course we are worried but we have to play well and get together as a team, and we have to get out of the situation.

“You have to win sometimes and you have to lose sometimes, but we have to come out of this situation, that’s very sure.

“But we are always positive and we will be positive.”

Rao, who has confirmed that there are no plans to bring in extra coaching staff to assist Steve Kean having again given the Rovers boss his backing last week, says that the club are still no closer to appointing a new chairman to replace the departed John Williams.

“We are looking at it but there is nothing thus far, this is also speculation,” he said.
