SCHALKE have indicated that they have no plans to allow Jermaine Jones to return to Blackburn Rovers next season – and Manchester United have confirmed that fellow loan signing Mame Biram Diouf is wanted back at Old Trafford.

Jones and Diouf are on loan at Rovers until the end of the season and have been heavily involved in the club’s recent matches, both starting each of the last two games.

Rovers boss Steve Kean revealed when he signed Jones from Schalke in January that he was eager to bring the midfielder to the club on a permanent basis in the summer, although he was unable to agree a fixed price with the German club.

Jones, who lined up for the United States in a friendly against Lionel Messi’s Argentina on Saturday, was loaned out by Schalke after falling out of favour with coach Felix Magath, having previously made his way back from a broken leg.

But the former Bayern Munich boss departed Schalke earlier this month and has been replaced by Rolf Rangnick, who now considers the 29-year-old midfielder part of his plans.

“In recent years I found Jones always good in the Bundesliga until his injury break,” said Rangnick.

Schalke’s general manager Horst Heldt confirmed: “Of course, Jermaine returns in the summer to us.”

And Diouf, who joined Rovers in August on a season-long loan from Manchester United, is also wanted back by his parent club.

“Mame Diouf has done well at Blackburn and he’ll come back in," said United boss Alex Ferguson.

Fellow Rovers striker Nikola Kalinic started for Croatia on Saturday but was unable to find a way past Georgia.
