COLNE captain, David Swarbrick, believes he can guide his side to a respectable finish despite their current lowly position.

The Horsfield skipper says confidence has been boosted following improved recent performances which included last Saturday's win at fellow strugglers Rawtenstall.

Swarbrick, whose team travel to Haslingden tomorrow, said: "It's still very tight and we're only a few wins short of climbing to mid-table. Last weekend's win was a real confidence booster and our performances have picked up recently."

Colne are without Jeff Ellis and Matthew Clark so Sid Sheraz and Aaron Pollard come in to the starting line-up.

Barry Knowles is out for Haslingden so Jo Sipocz steps in.

Rawtenstall will use the remainder of the season to blood young players in the first team.

Chairman, Brian Payne, said: "Obviously, we want to win as many games as possible to climb away from the foot of the table. But we have nothing to lose so now is a good time to blood some new players who have waited for their chance."

All-rounder, Chris Thomas, will make his debut at Burnley as Rawtenstall also draft in Tom Chadwick and John Dawson to replace the unavailable trio of Afraz Ali, Peter Seal and Damion Hanson.

Bacup, whose professional Chris Cairns has taken the league by storm, host third-placed Lowerhouse in the game of the day tomorrow.

Cairns has smashed 546 runs and taken 52 wickets so far, and he has been well supported by the amateurs, although the talented Tim Farragher misses out tomorrow.
