ROMMY Boco got the ball rolling as Accrington Stanley's pre-season campaign got back on the winning track.

The 21-year-old Frenchman starred in a side that was close to John Coleman's starting eleven when they kick off their campaign in the Football League at Chester on August 5.

Stanley opened the scoring on 27 minutes when Roberts' neat cut-back found Boco in space, and he looped the ball over the keeper.

Craney almost doubled the lead six minutes later when Boco and Roberts linked well down the left.

Boco burst forward, and fired over a perfect cross for Craney but the midfielder's volley went agonisingly wide of the post.

Conference North champions Northwich had their best chance on 37 minutes when former Rochdale striker Kevin Townson dubiously beat the offside trap as he ran onto Richard Battersby's through-ball but Ian Dunbavin did enough to steer him away from the goal and Townson hit the side-netting.

Stanley doubled their lead a minute after the re-start when summer signing Sean Doherty picked the ball up on the left and chippied keeper Phil Senior from 18 yards.

Just before the hour, Craney had a dipping shot tipped over by Senior and from the resultant Roberts' corner, Michael Welch towered high to make it 3-0 with a bullet header at the near post.

Northwich pulled a goal back, albeit dubiously, after captain Peter Cavanagh made minimal contact with Jonny Allan, who recovered to score from the spot.

But Stanley soon restored their three-goal cushion when Roberts fed David Brown inside the area to finish well.

Roberts should have added a fifth after Boco's lung-bursting run down the right, but he blazed his shot high and wide.
