STEVE Cotterill was delighted with Burnley's performance that saw off Bolton Wanderers yesterday.

The Clarets wrapped up their pre-season friendly programme on English shores with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Sam Allardyce's men at Turf Moor.

Goals in each half from Andy Gray and Micah Hyde secured victory against the Premiership side, who levelled through Ricardo Vaz Te.

Burnley boss Cotterill was pleased to overcome the Trotters, even more so with his side's performance, before the club jetted off to begin a six-day training camp near Lake Garda.

"We enjoyed the game very much," said Cotterill.

"Make no bones about it, they (Bolton) are a decent team.

"Whenever you play a team from the Premiership you always know it's going to be a tough game and sometimes you get caught chasing.

"But the theory is that if you are chasing a little bit, then the fitness levels are hopefully going to rise.

"It was a better defensive display in the second-half than the first, but all in all it was a decent pre-season game for us.

"I thought the first goal was excellent."

Cotterill added: "I think when you play a Premiership team, they are going to pass it, so there was obviously more football in the game than there was on Tuesday night."
