RAMSBOTTOM professional Sunil Joshi kept the Acre Bottom side firmly in the driving seat at the top of the SponsorBank Lancashire League on Saturday with a stunning display with bat and ball.

After entering the fray with the score looking perilous at 37-3, the Indian left hander stormed to 126 not out against championship rivals ENFIELD his first century for the club - from just 111 thanks to three sixes and 14 fours.

But his work for the day wasn't done as he went on to snap up four wickets - seeing off Adam Bracewell (73), Neil Holmes (14), David Bracewell (11) and Bernard Reidy (5) - to help Ramsbottom on their way to a 49-run win.

BURNLEY paid man Jonathan Harvey was also a strong contender for individual performance of the day as his 105 against CHURCH was followed by a six-wicket haul at Turf Moor.

Harvey was run out shortly after reaching his century, which included 11 fours and one six from 153 deliveries but was backed up by Steve Brunt (33) as Burnley went on to reach 224-7.

Church professional Ruvin Peiris started positively in reply but couldn't receive sufficient support from his team-mates as Harvey ripped through the order.

LOWERHOUSE'S winning streak continued at ACCRINGTON as Charlie Cottam (62) and Chris Benbow (51) added strength to the middle order.

Adam Wilson top-scored with 45 but the majority of the Accrington order failed to reach double figures as they recorded a 137-run defeat.

Benbow was the destroyer-in-chief with figures of 4-25.

In a tale of top versus bottom, BACUP thrashed struggling EAST LANCS by 140 runs. Professional Chris Cairns hit 74 and received strong support from Andrew Spencer (32) and captain John Chapman (32) in the lower batting order.

East Lancs offered little resistance in reply, and Cairns took full advantage as he snapped up five wickets for 44 runs.

Lowly COLNE offered hope of a revival with their five-wicket win at RAWTENSTALL.

A smattering of decent scores in the Rawtenstall innings helped set a victory target of 176, but it was one that Colne reached with relative ease thanks to Paul Wilson (37), Sean Lemon (28) and paid man Adnan Malik (38).

NELSON made steady progress up the table courtesy of their 23-run win over RISHTON. Although unable to set a formidable target, Shabbir Ahmed prevented Rishton from getting close with 5-34.

HASLINGDEN professional Tama Canning was in good form with bat and ball as he contributed 60 runs and three wickets in their two-wicket win over TODMORDEN.
