BROTHER and sister Joe and Polly Pearse show they are on track when it comes to Athletics success.

In fact, the Clitheroe Royal Grammar School pupils are all-rounders in every sense of the word as they both shine in a range of sports.

While Year Nine pupil Joe excells in athletics, his feats in cross county, cricket and basketball earned him the CRGS sports personality of the year award for his age group.

He won a silver medal in the Lancashire Schools Combined Events Championship which earned him a place in the county team for the North West Regional Championships in Telford where he finished in fifth place overall.

He won the 800m and gained personal bests in the 80m hurdles, shot put, long jump and high jump in the junior boys pentathlon.

Joe also won a silver medal in the 80m hurdles at the Lancs AA Championships and was third in the 800m at the Lancashire Schools Athletics Championhips running for Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Schools.

Like younger sister Polly, Joe is a member of Blackburn Harriers and both play for Salesbury CC and the Ribble Valley District side.

Polly, a year seven pupil, won her age group in the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Schools Cross Country Championships - helping her team to the overall title.

She represented the district in the county final and was seventh Year Seven goal home and, more recently, was second in the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Schools 1500m race.

Polly runs for the Harriers track and field, cross country and fell running teams and is currently placed 6th in the under 12s Fell Runner’s Association English Junior Championships.
