ACCRINGTON Stanley have agreed deals to sign former Bradford duo Rory Boulding and Jon Bateson – and boss John Coleman is still keen to add two more strikers to his squad before the start of the season.

Boulding, the 22-year-old younger brother of fellow striker Michael, and 20-year-old right back Bateson, a former Blackburn trainee, have agreed one-year deals after trials at the Crown Ground.

The Reds, who travel to Southport for a friendly tonight at 7.45pm before making the trip to AFC Fylde on Thursday, now have seven new signings set to join this season.

Craig Lindfield, Alex Cisak and Michael Hall are already on board, with Andy Parkinson and Ray Putterill agreeing six-month deals.

Stanley are unable to complete the signings until their transfer embargo is lifted, with the club awaiting final permission from the Football League.

Former Macclesfield centre back Sean Hessey is still on trial, while Stanley will not make a final decision on Leam Richardson’s future until he returns from the injury that has kept him out of action for the past week.

Coleman still hopes to add to his squad with strikers a priority following the departures of Michael Symes, Bobby Grant and Billy Kee.

“We’d like one, maybe two, forwards in before the season starts and possibly another centre half,” he said.
