Colne were in a rush to beat the rain as they thumped Burnley by nine wickets at The Horsfield.

Professional Anwar Ali’s radar homed in on the stumps as Burnley won the toss and chose to bat.

That decision seemed to be a mistake as they slumped to 24-4 and had it not been for 35 not out from Bharat Tripathi and 15 from Daniel Pickup, Burnley would have been humbled.

Their total of 103 was boosted by 28 extras as Ali claimed 6-39 from 11 overs to do most of the damage.

Rain saw the Colne target reduced to 82 in 36 overs - but with more clouds hovering the home side were in a big hurry.

They scorched home in just 13 overs with Jeff Ellis smashing 52 not out from 47 balls, while skipper Matt Wilson was 23 not out in just a third league win of the season.
