ACCRINGTON Stanley have released former Burnley midfielder John Mullin but offered new deals to 12 players.

Mullin, now 34, had featured only three times this season because of ankle problems and was at the end of his contract with the club. Striker Gary King has also been allowed to leave.

But the Reds, who had already offered deals to Dean Winnard, Bobby Grant and Michael Symes, have now announced that they will make attempts to keep the majority of their current squad.

Midfielders John Miles, Luke Joyce, Sean McConville and Alan Burton have been offered new contracts along with defenders Darran Kempson and Peter Murphy as well as goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin.

Leam Richardson has also been handed the opportunity to stay at the Crown Ground, although the long-serving defender has only been offered non-contract terms after a persistent pelvic problem meant he was only able to return for the final two games of the season after a lengthy absence. The 30-year-old has also put himself on the PFA’s transfer list.

Stanley have also offered a deal to 19-year-old loan striker Billy Kee, who is available on a free transfer after being released by Leicester.
