JUNIOR Hoilett is desperate to finish a memorable season on a personal high – with a first Premier League goal his dream finale.

The Canadian starlet burst into Blackburn Rovers’ first team earlier this season to earn a professional contract but is now looking to end a disappointing last couple of months in ‘perfect’ style.

The 19-year-old has made 24 appearances for Rovers this campaign, his first in English football, but admits the last couple of months have been frustrating having made just fleeting substitute appearances since the start of March.

Hoilett though has just vowed to work harder to force his way back into the starting line-up and, ahead of tomorrow’s Ewood Park visit of Everton, has his eyes on following up his solitary cup goal with breaking his league duck..

Hoilett said: “I am working hard to get back in the squad.

"My goal was to get in Sam’s plans and I worked hard and have achieved that.

“Now my goal is to get back in the team and get a couple of goals to my name.

"I have to keep working hard and hopefully my time will come again.

“I haven’t got a Premier League goal yet and I am still working hard to get that goal.

"It is frustrating but every day in training I work hard and give my all to try and get back in the squad.

“I support the team when I am not playing. I always want to be out there though but we are all the team and we all work hard together.

“It does make me more determined to show what I can do and hopefully my chance will come again.

"That is football. There are a lot of players in the squad and very good competition.”

Hoilett is just one of a crop of promising youngsters who have established themselves in Rovers’ first team squad this season, with Steven Nzonzi, Nikola Kalinic, Phil Jones and Martin Olsson all regular starters.

The teenage winger though insists they are all learning from the wealth of experience in the squad - and admits the ‘old guard’ still have the upper hand.

“We play a young against the old at training and to be fair the old have the upper hand because they have more experience,” he said.

“We have got our fair share of wins this season but it shows they have experience and how we like to work with them to build ourselves up as players.

“We started the season off slowly but we have got our heads down and picked up a decent amount of points now.

"We have done it through hard work, commitment and the team gelling together.

“Confidence is high because we are playing well.

"There is no pressure and that helps us in getting results.

"Everybody is still working hard and we are trying to get as high as possible in the league. We still have four games left and we will be trying to make the most of it.

“Everton are playing well and so are we and it is going to be a good game and hopefully we get the result.

"We have a good home record and we have all the confidence to get three points.”
