More people have walked on the moon than seen Theo Walcott play a competitive game of football. OK, that's an exaggeration. However, unlike Sven, I have seen the teenager in more than just a friendly - and was thoroughly unimpressed.

When my side played Southampton in the Championship, I expected Walcott to tear through our flimsy defence as if it were a naan bread.

In reality, the only way the hapless teen could have had less of a sniff of goal was if he'd worn a peg on his nose.

Admittedly he did score five goals for Southampton (including strikes against the mighty MK Dons and Millwall) and apparently looked top class in perhaps a quarter of his 23 appearances.

So has he got potential for greatness in a few years? Undoubtedly so - Arsenal wouldn't have shelled out untold millions for his services otherwise.

Is he world class now? Absolutely not. We may as well play those talented 10-year-olds you see on regional TV news bulletins, doing a thousand keepy-uppies, if we are picking players on their potential rather than their performances.

But while Theo gets talked up more and more, there is another supremely talented teenager in our squad, and one who's actually proven his worth in the Premier League for a full season.

Forget Theo, Aaron Lennon is the real deal, the teenage talent to terrorise defences like Rooney in 2004, Owen in 1998 and Gascoigne in 1990.
