Barnoldswick's Iain Shirlaw proved to be the survivor on a day of mechanical carnage in the Welsh forests, when he took his Proton Satria kit car to victory on the second round of the EuroRallye Cup on the Severn Valley Clubman's Stages Rally.

Shirlaw and co-driver Martin Moore were one of only three registered crews to finish this car-killing event, which took place in Crychan forest in mid-Wales.

The EuroRallye Cup is proving again to be very competitive, and after two of the five events, Mike Winfield and Andrew Laverty lead jointly on 42 points, with Shirlaw equal second on 25 points. The next round is next month's Swansea Bay Stages.
