BLACKBURN Rovers will kick-off the new season with a tough away game at Portsmouth on August 19.

Manager Mark Hughes will then face two of his former clubs as Everton and Chelsea both visit Ewood Park during the first eight days of the new Premiership campaign.

Hughes will have to wait until November 11 for the first clash with another of his former clubs, Manchester United.

Rovers are scheduled to make their first ever visit to Arsenal's impressive new Emirates Stadium two days before Christmas, while Liverpool - who could well have Craig Bellamy in their ranks - will visit Ewood on Boxing Day.

On New Year's Day, Rovers fans will travel to Wigan Athletic, while the final game of the season sees Premiership new boys Reading pitch up at Ewood on May 13.

However, some of the fixtures are expected to be moved to accommodate TV cameras.

Rovers' involvement in the UEFA Cup may also have an effect on the league fixtures.
