Burnley have been handed a home tie against League Two side Hartlepool in today's Carling Cup round one draw.
The Clarets had been named as one of 18 top seeds, which meant they would be kept apart from other Championship sides in the first round.
Pool, who were relegated back to the basement division last season, appointed former MK Dons manager Danny Wilson as their new boss last week.
The tie will be played on the week commencing August 21.
