Accrington Stanley have been handed a plum tie in today's Carling Cup round one draw. The Reds will play former European champions Nottingham Forest in what will be their first appearance in the competition for over 44 years.
Stanley have appeared in the League Cup just twice before, losing 3-1 to Everton in 1960 and 1-0 at Lincoln City in 1961.
Both those matches were played away from home so the Forest tie, to be played on the week commencing August 21, will be Accrington's first ever League Cup home game.
