ACCRINGTON Stanley and Burnley are believed to have been successful in the clubs' appeals to avoid their home games clashing.
Both clubs were still waiting for official confirmation from the Football League at the time of going to press, but they are hopeful that the outcome of the latest meetings with the police and the Football League has gone in their favour.
Stanley and Burnley had appealed to the fixture planners, expressing concerns that both clubs would lose out financially if their home games were scheduled on the same day.
Confirmation of any changes may not be received until the fixtures for the 2006/07 season are officially released on Thursday.
But Stanley chairman Eric Whalley has thanked the Lancashire Evening Telegraph for the role we played in trying to get the decision forcing the Reds and Burnley to share their home games reversed.
"As far as we are concerned, we can't verify it or deny it, but we are led to believe the fixtures have been changed," he said.
"If that's the case, we are delighted, and I think the intervention of a third party (the Evening Telegraph) did help."
