SAM Allardyce has urged his upbeat Blackburn Rovers side to ‘take their chance’ and complete three consecutive Premier League wins for the first time in his reign.

Rovers travel to crisis club Portsmouth tomorrow with the potential of officially relegating the South Coast outfit to the Championship, with Allardyce determined to hammer home their advantage.

With goalkeeper Paul Robinson now back in training, the Rovers boss has a fully fit squad to choose from as they look to cement and improve on their current 10th position.

He said: “We have been really upbeat this week and I was able to say to the lads ‘go home and see your families and I will see you on Thursday. Make sure you come back ready for Portsmouth and ready to get three Premier League wins in a row for the first time this season’.

“We have had Paul Robinson joining in training for the first time and we have a very fit and healthy squad to choose from. A few players who haven’t played for a while played for the reserves on Monday and we won 4-0, with Franco Di Santo getting a couple of goals.

“It is very difficult to win three games in a row in the Premier League. We have some big games ahead and that is why we want to secure victory on Saturday as we hope we are catching them on a downward spiral.”

In contrast to Rovers’ fortunes, Portsmouth, currently in administration, are facing a selection crisis with as many as 13 senior players unavailable.

Allardyce said: “They also have the FA Cup semi finals the following weekend and that will be the only light at the end of the tunnel for their players this season. It is a great chance for us.”
