FORMER Rover Aaron Mokoena has warned Sam Allardyce’s men ‘we won’t make it easy for you’ after insisting Premier League pride is still important to Portsmouth.

The South African skipper moved to Fratton Park from Blackburn Rovers in the summer, after enjoying four and a half years at Ewood Park, and has been caught up in a disastrous campaign for the South Coast outfit.

Cash-strapped Portsmouth are all-but relegated after entering administration saw them deducted nine points to leave them well adrift at the bottom of the Premier League – and defeat tomorrow could officially condemn them to the Championship.

Avram Grant’s injury-hit side also have next weekend’s FA Cup semi final looming but Mokoena insists their minds will still be on the job tomorrow.

He said: “We want to win as many matches as possible, so we certainly haven’t given up.

“We have passionate fans who still want to see us win games, so we have to carry on until the last game.

“I always want to beat Blackburn because I’ve got loads of friend there. When they play against me they always want to win and be able to take the mickey out of me – and I feel exactly the same.

“We got beaten at Ewood Park earlier in the season, so hopefully it will be our turn this time. Playing at home can be an advantage for us.”

Mokoena racked up nearly 150 appearances during his time at Ewood Park and, despite spending just a few months under Allardyce’s stewardship, has full respect for tomorrow’s visitors.

“They’ve got quality players and I’m sure they’re coming to Fratton Park looking to win”, he said. “Sam Allardyce has got plenty of experience and I’ve got a lot of respect for him.”
