ACCRINGTON Stanley are enjoying the third highest percentage increase in attendances in League Two this season.

Stanley’s gates averaged at just 1,414 last season – the lowest in the Football League since the doomed Maidstone United in the late 1980s.

But that figure is now up to 2,023 for the current campaign, largely due to the response to a call for increased crowds during Stanley’s recent financial crisis.

The 23 per cent increase in gates this season is the third highest in League Two behind Notts County and Bournemouth.
