ACCRINGTON Stanley assistant manager Jimmy Bell has stressed that he and boss John Coleman remain totally committed to the club – despite recent suggestions that they would like a move to Tranmere.

Coleman and Bell have taken Stanley from the UniBond First Division to the Football League during their 10 years at the club and have been granted a joint testimonial.

The duo agreed a new rolling contract in May, but that is yet to be officially signed and Bell had been quoted as saying that he and Coleman would be interested in the vacancy at Tranmere.

It is thought, however, that the duo received no approach from the Prenton Park club, who later appointed John Barnes.

Bell has insisted that his comments were not a symptom of frustration at Stanley’s recent financial problems.

He said: “I was asked the question, ‘Would we be interested?’ I said, ‘Of course’. It is a big job so it would have been a step up. We have never stood in the way of players when they have had the chance to step up.

“It wasn’t to do with the finances, it’s like anyone in their job, if you get the chance to move to a bigger organisation you’re interested.

“But we’re not looking to jump ship. Me and John will always give everything to Accrington, as we always have.”
