Young Burnley midfielder Ben McKenna has joined Carlisle on a two-year professional contract.

Ben, 17, was released by the Clarets a month ago and was snapped up by the Cumbrian outfit.

The club’s head of youth developement Eric Kinder said: “Ben spent a few days training with us and did enough to secure a contract.

“He has been with Burnley since he was nine years old and they tipped me off that he was well worth having a look at when they decided that they had to release him.

“Ben has agreed to join us as part of our under 18s squad next season.

“He is lively, bright, confident and very good on the ball and I am looking forward to working with him as he continues to develop his game.”
