BLACKBURN Hawks have it all to do to avoid the drop, according to general manager Andy Slater.

The local ice-hockey aces currently trail third-from-bottom Kingston Jets by five points in the English National League table, and they now have just three games of their season remaining to save themselves from relegation.

With no fixtures scheduled for either today or tomorrow, Hawks have a double-header against Kingston and Billingham Bombers next weekend.

Then comes a potential final day decider away to Coventry Blaze.

“Kingston got a win and a draw last weekend, which means we have to win our three remaining games to avoid the relegation spots,” said Slater.

“It is going to be a tough ask, but that’s the way the season’s gone unfortunately.

“Whatever happens, we will reassess at the end of the season and look to come back stronger next year.”
