JOHN Mullin intends to play on with Accrington Stanley next season – providing his body can stand up to the test.
The former Burnley midfielder has enjoyed his first campaign at the Fraser Eagle Stadium, which has given him the opportunity to play alongside brother Paul, but is out of contract at the end of the season.
Although troubled by two separate ankle problems since the turn of the year, the 33-year-old has played 27 matches this season and – like 34-year-old Paul – is keen to play as long as possible.
Asked whether he intends to stay at Stanley, he said: “If my body is willing and the gaffer wants me to, I don’t see why not.
“You’re a long time finished and it does sort of go in a flash. I’ve never really set a date on when I’ll retire, your body probably tells you when it’s time to quit. As long as I can get out there and play, I will.”
