BURNLEY boss Owen Coyle is set to play for an All-Ireland masters side in the Nationwide Home Nations Cup in Liverpool on Wednesday, March 25.

The 42-year-old, who made one appearance for the Republic of Ireland in 1994 during his playing days with Bolton Wanderers, still occasionally appears for the Clarets’ reserve team so is expected to be in decent condition for the masters tournament at the Echo Arena.

The All-Ireland team – also set to include former Blackburn Rovers midfielder Jason McAteer as well as David Kelly, Phil Babb, Kelham O’Hanlon, John Durnin and Mark Kinsella – will face England, Scotland and Wales in a competition that starts at 7pm England are currently set to field former Accrington Stanley and Liverpool midfielder Mike Marsh as well as Ray Parlour, Michael Thomas, Mark Walters and Lee Sharpe.

Former Rovers manager Paul Ince is now not on the confirmed list after previous indications that he would be involved.

Former Rovers striker and Lancashire Telegraph columnist Kevin Gallagher is scheduled to appear for Scotland along with Tommy Boyd, Stuart McCall, Kenny Black, Don Hutchison and Billy Dodds.

Paul Jones, Andy Melville, Kit Symons, Clayton Blackmore, Andy Legg, Andy Johnson, Iwan Roberts and Ian Rush have been earmarked to appear for Wales, with tickets for the event currently available at www.mastersfootball.com/homenations2009.htm.

Names are yet to be confirmed for Burnley’s first ever appearance in the Sky Masters Cup this season, in which Coyle has previously appeared for Bolton and Motherwell.

An Over-35 Clarets side are set to renew rivalries with Blackburn Rovers at the MEN Arena in Manchester on Saturday, July 25, in a six-team north west tournament that will also include Manchester United, Manch-ester City, Oldham Athletic and Bolton.

The winners of the eight regional heats will then face each other in the grand final at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on Saturday, September 6.
