ROSTYN Griffiths’ three-month loan at Accrington Stanley comes to an end this weekend but Blackburn Rovers are believed to be willing to let the midfielder make a permanent return in January.

The 20-year-old Australian has impressed since being plucked out of Rovers’ reserves in September but Football League regulations mean his temporary stay at the Fraser Eagle Stadium is now over after the postponement of tomorrow’s clash with Brentford.

Griffiths has added a new dimension to the Stanley midfield and boss John Coleman is making every attempt to bring him back when the transfer window opens in January.

Another loan deal for the rest of the season would suit both parties but there is even a chance the switch may become permanent.

“He’s a good player,” said Coleman of Griffiths, who is due to return to Australia to visit family next week before returning to England in time for January.

“He’s an elegant player and he’s difficult to play against in training as well. He glides past you as if you’re not there.

“He’s another one who wouldn’t have played a lot of competitive games, so to play so many in a short space of time will only aid his experience and his development.

“I’d like to extend it from January with him. There’s maybe a chance we might be able to take him permanently rather than as a loan.

“I don’t know if Blackburn will want a fee. If they do it rules us out!”
