AUSTRALIANS, I just don't get them.

On Saturday, the Kanagaroos lost the Rugby League World Cup final against New Zealand.

It was a major shock as it was the Aussies' first loss in 33 years.

The game wasn't without incident and English referee Ashley Klein had some big calls to make, as did fellow Brit Steve Ganson in his role as video referee.

And it was Ganson's decision to award the Kiwis a penalty try late on that ultimately swung the game.

These things happen in sport, but what happened afterwards was just pathetic.

In their disgust, the Aussie fans booed Klein and the Kiwis in the presentation ceremony. Fair enough.

But then vented their fury at their own players. How is that fair?

I'm guessing they didn't mean to lose.

But to cap it all off, Cronulla and Australia loose forward Paul Gallen has now suggested a conspiracy against the Aussies. Give me a break.

Isn't it just possible, and I know that this will be very controversial, that the Kiwis got the luck of the bounce and won the game fairly?

That's why it's always great to see the Aussies lose -they just can't accept defeat.
