THERE’S a full house entry for this weekend's Hall Trophy Rally, organised by Clitheroe and district motor club at Weeton army camp near Blackpool.

With twelve stages and over 50 miles on offer, clerk-of-the-course Bruce Lindsay and his team have been rewarded with 90 cars and crews, including some of the top club drivers in the north west.

Dave Willett and John Davis will lead the field away at 8am on Sunday in their Ford Escort Mk2, followed by Duncan Taylor and Stephen Graveson’s Mitsubishi Evo 5.

John and Karen Cressey head the local entry in their Minisport of Padiham BMW Mini Cooper S at car 10.

Other East Lancashire crews include Blackburn’s Nigel Worswick and Amy Cadman, who are guaranteed to put on an entertaining display in their Escort Mk2, while Pendle DMC’s Peter Tattersall and Stephen Riley are one car behind at 15 in another Escort.

Former Peugeot champions Ian Winstanley and Neil Bye are one of several BMW RWD Challenge competitors in their 325i, closely followed by 205 Challenge front-runner Russ Thompson and Andy Murphy.

John Easson award winner Phil Scholes gives his Peugeot 205 a ‘shakedown’ before next month's Tour of Mull, with Clitheroe-based brothers Dominic and Jason McTear also competing in a 205.

No north west stage event would be complete without the distinctive Datsun Violet of Dave Blackburn and Irvine Holtom, while SD34 competitors Paul Blanchard and Derek Lewin round off the local entries at car 83 in their Nissan Micra.

The event is a round of the Slicks Tyres ANWCC Novice, Ladies, and All-rounders Championships, and the Tyres South Shore SD34 MSG Stage Rally Championship.

Sponsors include Hayhursts of Longridge and Greyhound Ford of Accrington who have donated £100 towards the marshals fund.

The organisers are also appealing for volunteers to help with the running of the event, which has no spectator access. Contact Craig Young, on 07854423252.
