Blackburn Rovers target Ugur Yildirim has been released by Turkish outfit Sivasspor, days after it was revealed he has been offered a trial at Ewood Park.

The right-winger, who has been capped once by Holland, was only signed by Sivasspor in January but has now been told he can leave after a change in formation.

Sivasspor boss Ozkan Dogan has confirmed Rovers’ boss Paul Ince has enquired about the 26-year-old, who recently asked for the club to terminate his contract.

Rovers have also admitted the winger will be coming to Lancashire on trial although are not planning on adding to their ranks ahead of the opening of the January transfer window.

Dogan said: “Ugur is a great player, but he just doesn’t fit in our 4-3-2-1 formation.

“Ugur asked us to terminate his deal and we agreed to do so, meaning that he’s a free agent now.

“Blackburn are after his signature and I think that’s a good club for him.”
