KEITH Andrews insists Rovers boss Paul Ince is a ‘natural-born winner’ having already had vast experience of his ‘inspirational’ leadership skills on and off the field.

The Irish midfielder was reunited with his former MK Dons boss and Wolves team-mate when Ince snapped him up last month and believes his early managerial success is based on contagious self-belief.

Spells in charge at Macclesfield and MK Dons have seen the former England man lift the League Two championship and the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, as well as winning the Manager of the Month award four times, and Andrews is confident his formula will continue to reap its rewards.

He said: “Without a doubt he is the type of person that rubs off on you.

“He has mellowed a hell of a lot since his playing days but his will to win is still there. It is second to none and as a player, you can’t help but be inspired by someone like that.

“It is just that winner’s mentality. He does not talk about losing and that breeds confidence among the players. He has confidence in you as a player and that rubs off.”

After an impressive start to his Blackburn Rovers era, back-to-back four drubbings have shaken some FROM BACK PAGE fans’ confidence.

But, with Fulham set to visit Ewood on Saturday, Andrews remains confident Ince will make an impact in Lancashire.

“Paul Ince is more of a man manager,” he said. “He lets the coaching staff get on with their coaching and lets players go and express themselves in the way they want to.

“I think the football he preaches is a good type of football, entertaining football but ultimately winning football.

“I am sure the players and fans will see that in the future. I played with him when I was at Wolves and he was exactly the same as a player.”
