OWEN Coyle believes Burnley are putting the disappointing derby memories of last season, against both Blackpool and Preston, behind them.
“There were a lot of positives. From the four derby games last year we yielded one point, so we’ve already taken three now, which is pleasing,” the manager said after last night's win against the Seasiders.
“Everyone knows how hurt we were by the derby defeat on New Year’s Day at Blackpool; I think that went some way to restoring a little bit of pride on that front.”
And the Burnley boss thanked the supporters for their contribution to last night’s morale-boosting win.
“From start to finish they were magnificent, and I think if they can stay with the players the players will reward them,” he said.
"Probably through our own doing, because we had a terrific pre-season, the expectations were maybe high.
"But they’ve shown when they’re there and they’re vocal, as they were on Saturday, the players will give everything they can.”
