BURNLEY manager Owen Coyle will continue to run the rule over young trialist Theo Fairweather-Johnson.

The 19-year-old winger, who has been training with the Clarets youth team this week, scored twice in the 4-1 win over Rochdale Reserves on Wednesday night.

The former Dulwich Hamlet and Beckenham wide man could now feature again when Burnley return to Central League West Division action on September 24, away to Preston North End.

“Young Theo did fine in the game,” said Coyle.

“We’re always looking for young players to come on board and we’ll continue to monitor it.

“He’s been working with the youth team and has done well, and given that we thought we’d give him an opportunity in the reserves.

“We’ll probably have a look at him in another reserve game and take it from there.

“He’s missed out on a bit of training but we like to think there’s more to come from him so we’ll continue to have a look and see what happens.”
