NOTTS County claimed their first away win of last season at Accrington in Ian McParland’s third game in charge of the club.

The Magpies boss now hopes his side can claim their first win of the season in League Two at the Fraser Eagle Stadium on Saturday – although he admits it will be tough against the Reds.

He said: “It would be fantastic to go up to Accrington and beat them but it will be a tough game, every game is tough.

“We beat them twice last year, which helped in our fight for survival.

“We will go up there and get at them and hopefully lady luck will shine on us a bit and we get the rewards we deserve.”

McParland admits victory against Accrington last season helped to kick-start his reign at Meadow Lane.

And after four successive draws against Darlington, Luton Town, Shrewsbury and Bournemouth, he hopes it will be the stage to kick-start the Magpies campaign.

“We got started there last season. We got a good result and we played very well,” he added.

“I would never tip them to struggle, like some people do, because they roll their sleeves up and they work hard.

“I think the people that tip them not to do well often eat their words. Maybe they use that for motivation.

“I will never underestimate them.”
