Jamie Vardy insists Leicester City will not relax against Blackburn Rovers with the 100-point marker in sight.

The Foxes were crowned Championship winners on Monday night, comfortably beating Preston North End 3-0 at Deepdale. That win means they have nothing tangible to play for on the final day when Rovers visit The King Power Stadium.

Rovers fans may have hoped Leicester would take their eye off the ball, as a result, with the beers flowing during Monday's celebrations. John Eustace's side know a point on Saturday will secure their status as a Championship club.

However, Vardy, who scored twice at Deepdale, insisted Leicester want to hit 100 points and will be just as focused as ever on Saturday against Blackburn.

“We can celebrate it tonight, but now we have another target which is 100 points," Vardy said amid the celebrations.

“We are over the moon. It has gone by quick but it's a graft. Not many days off, I'll tell you that.

“The lads - they've given it all. Thoroughly deserved, and I'm glad we've had 5000 to come and celebrate with us. It's not like it's 20 minutes up the road."

Foxes boss Enzo Maresca was in more reflective mood after watching his team get over the line. Leicester had lost six of their previous ten matches before three wins in a row that have clinched promotion.

“Fantastic, it's been a fantastic season. The Championship is a tough season and very intense, but I'm very happy," he said.

"Now it's time to enjoy the work of the season to bring this special club back to the Premier League. We deserve it.

“The last two days they have been fantastic. We got promoted, but it was difficult in game preparation. But we used all of today to prepare for the game, the morning and afternoon. It was good.

“It was a fantastic performance. I was happy even when we dropped points against Millwall and Plymouth. It was just a matter of taking chances. But we missed. But the Southampton game, tonight’s game, we completely deserved this target.”
